PA300092Yesterday’s ceremony of volunteerism, Peace Corps trainees being sworn in as bona fide PCVs, was exciting to witness.   The 21st group of PCVs gave their oath conducted by The Honorable Richard Hoagland, American ambassador. He gave a short speech to the group of 64 American volunteers investing their lives in Kazakhstan for the next two years.  One PCV spoke in near perfect Kazakh, I thought if I didn’t know better, he must be Kazakh.  Then he switched over to American English where he shared a Kazakh proverb “Good word–half wealth.”  Meaning that if you say good, it will come back to you or conversely as we know it back home “What goes around, come around.”
