Kazakh Proverbs and Sayings (Part II)

A crow eats whatever it gets. 

A giver thinks five is too much, a receiver thinks six is not enough. 

Even gold is not of value, if one has a lot of it. 

The way one looks at you reveals if one is an enemy, the way one feeds you shows if one is a miser. 

As long as your eyes are hungry, your stomach is empty. 

The takers hand should learn to give. 

No one born can escape death. 

One cannot return the past, one cannot revive the dead. 

Crying will not resurrect the dead.

Death does not notify of coming. 

You can stop a river, you cannot stop life. 

A healthy person values belongings, a sick person values life. 

Do not slam shut the door, which is still to be opened. 

Even a rabbit’s skin can be a good dress for a year. 

Had to wait till forty, can wait till forty one. 

The dirt washes off with soap, a secret opens with an idle talk. 

An obnoxious person thinks the skies are too low.
