“There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul.” Arnold Bennett

Autumn in AlmatyI have a strong emotional tie to Kyiv, Ukraine after teaching there for almost seven years, which is where I visited for three days (Trish and I are pictured at WIUU) before I joined my husband in Kazakhstan.  I left my folks at the airport in the U.S. a month ago and fortunately was able to visit Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (John and me) to catch up on life with a fellow Fulbrighter.  Bishkek has remained virtually unchanged, compared to Almaty, since I taught there 13 years ago.  The other two photos of me are from Almaty, Kazakhstan, my present home.
