Halloween party, winning costume

pumpkinspartyHalloweenparty settingcontestantsWhen Ken proposed going to the university’s Halloween party he improvised on his costume. I claimed I didn’t know him so embarrassed was I.  Instead I insisted I was dressed up in an American English teacher’s costume.  Now, of course, I wish I had gotten a better photo of Ken with his winning costume.  He stood with his back to the judges and wore his cap backwards with his glasses on the back of his neck.  He won Funniest Costume award, other prizes went to scariest, cutest, etc.  We had a fun time meeting some of the students who faithfully come for English club to practice their English.

Last night I went to Film Society night at the Great Hall where they showed Casablanca with Russian subtitles.  GREAT lines and since they go by so quickly, it was probably a good call instead of having English subtitles. Met the organizer of this event whom Ken and I knew back in Ukraine over 10 years ago.  Small world and my, oh my, how fleeting is time.  Fun times were had by all at both events.  This country of Kazakhstan is English crazy, but not as bad as China as they prepare for Olympics 2008.
